Coaches and experienced paddlers are on hand to help out and provide advice, and the club has equipment for hire at nominal rates on club trips. There is a Committee but the emphasis is firmly on informality with all members being encouraged to suggest and organise events. Our most active disciplines are white water, polo, drinking and generally mucking about on the Thames or when the river's dry or surf flat we go mountain biking, hill walking, climbing, skiing, etc. - anything outdoors. <div style="padding-bottom: .3em; margin: 0 .5em .5em"></div> {| cellspacing="3" |- valign="top" |width="55%" class="MainPageBG" style="border: 1px solid #ffc9c9; color: #000; background-color: #fff3f3"| <div style="padding: .4em .9em .9em"> ===About the Club=== [[Membership]] is open to adults over the age of 18 only. Activities include [[White Water]] paddling, [[White Water Racing]], [[Pool session|Canoe Polo]], [[Surfing]] and a few other on and [[Anything outdoors|off the water]] adventures. Unfortunately, due to excess demand, we have now had to freeze our waiting list for people with '''no or limited paddling''' experience. We've a Ladies Team in the National League for the first time in many years, as well as the normal Div 4 team. We currently have a small waiting list, but we always look forward to hearing from new players especially if you would be interested in playing in the leagues as we're looking to establish regular teams for both the mens and ladies div. We do not generally hire boats or paddling equipment for ad-hoc usage; this is only available to members on club trips or activities. We are also not set-up to accommodate individuals or groups wishing to just train for the purposes of entering a particular event (e.g Devizes to Westminster, quadrathlon's, adventure races, etc). There are several other clubs in the London area which may be better suited for this purpose. [[White Water Racing]] is another aspect of the sport which a few at Battersea have been known to participate in. Most Wednesdays and some Sundays a group go out on the Thames in the white water racing boats for an hour or two. Please feel free to join in but contact [[User:Fast Eddie|Ed]] first to make sure a trip is running and that kit is available. See [[Current events]] for more details of our regular events. We often end up in a local pub after many sessions and this is where most trips and social events are organised. Trips and stuff are organised on a fairly ad-hoc basis, these range from freezing our bits off on some Welsh river to Urban Boating where the scariest thing is the pondlife.
