Evening bookings

From BCCWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

In order to ensure the weekly evening session runs and that key holders do not wait around for no-shows or you turn up to find the key holders are on strike or otherwise busy or just not turning up or have gone out earlier, you must add your name to this list BEFORE 5 PM on the day.

If you are running late or for later changes - text the keyholder listed to advise of the change, preferably at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time (you never know we may wait for you! on the other hand it's polite to let the keyholders know before they set out from home that you cannot make it).

This will also allow us to decide what type of session to run - fast boats or short boats, etc.

(during Winter months, meet at The Ashlone building, Embankment, Putney SW15 1LB, end of the road before the towpath, and we will walk together to the side gate at Barn Elms)

[edit] Wed 1st September 2010 19:30

High water at Hammersmith Bridge 19:41 hrs (see Admiralty Easy tide)

[edit] Key holders attending

  1. Olwen

notes:

  • Please bring head torch or equivalent (x2 preferably), as it still gets dark when we are on the water.
  • We can now use the toilets and showers in the boathouse, but you need to be finished and clear from there by 9pm when the rowers lock up (our own key is coming soon).

[edit] Notes

Lights are required when paddling in the evenings after dark. If planning to paddle after dark, please bring your own Light (see notes) if possible as the club only has a limited number

It is strongly recommended that everyone reads the PLA guidance for rowers 2006 before paddling on the Tideway so as to understand which direction rowers may rapidly appear from

Also please see useful information on the River Thames Session page (links to tide timetables, guidance on Tideway paddling/rules of the road, etc.)

If you ever wondered why it pays to look out for rowers, see this example of rowers looking where they're going (and ignoring warnings!) or this and this
